Avnet supplies the ix Industrial IP6X Rectangular Push-Pull connector and cable from Amphenol Communications Solutions. The ix provides Cat6A Ethernet connectivity using the IEC 61076-3-124 mating interface and full sealing to IP65, IP66, and IP67 specifications. While intended for use in industrial ethernet applications requiring additional environmental protection, ix Industrial IP6X has a small, lightweight form factor that works in medical applications and any indoor and outdoor rugged/harsh environments.
The LEMO B Series supplied by Powell Electronics offers a modular, ergonomic, rugged and reliable circular multipole connector for applications needing quick and secure push-pull latching. It is an ideal choice for semiconductor manufacturing and testing processes, Test & Measurement, instrumentation, medical devices, research, and audio/video applications. The modular insert configurations include a wide range of high-density multi-pole, or hybrid electrical contacts. Contacts can be of solder type, crimp, PCB straight or PCB elbow, fiber, coaxial, thermocouple, pneumatic, fluidic, or even high voltage.

They are valued where quick and secure connections are essential and offer an intuitive locking mechanism that allows for easy and rapid mating and unmating. With a simple push-and-pull motion, users can effortlessly connect and disconnect devices, saving valuable time and effort in critical applications. This mechanism also ensures an ultra-reliable connection, even in demanding environments where vibrations, shocks, and other external factors may be present. The infographic image shows how the locking mechanism works: 1) MATING – The plug has an outer sleeve, with flexible fingers, which slides forwards and backwards along the plug body. 2) WHEN CONNECTED – The beveled edges are firmly captured by a locking groove located inside the receptacle. 3) PULLING THE CABLE – The beveled edges of the fingers are forced into the groove, securing the connection. 4) UNMATING – Pulling on the outer sleeve of the plug unlocks the latching mechanism.
The 2M Ram-Lock from Amphenol Aerospace features a positive push-pull locking interface and is perfect for applications where accidental unmating is a concern. Connectors equipped with Ram-Lock offer quick disconnection with peace of mind, as the user must pull on the operating sleeve of the plug to unmate rather than pulling on the cable. Utilizing ball bearings for locking and a traditional D38999 EMI band for shell-to-shell conductivity allows for much more consistent and reliable engagement between the plug and receptacle.

Smiths Interconnect’s HyperGrip is a circular plastic, user-configurable, color-coded connector with push-pull latching design allowing for one-hand disconnect. HyperGrip is designed to meet medical industry requirements such as finger-proofing to IEC60601. It is flammability-rated to UL94 and compatible with most sterilization requirements. The series includes disposable plugs for HG2 and HG4 sizes designed to support overmolding and high-volume production methods and to withstand at least 30 cycles while ensuring the connector performance in terms of insulation resistance, dielectric withstanding voltage, current carrying, and low-level current resistance.
